Flipgrid is an innovative online environment in which teachers create grids of short discussion-style questions that students respond to through webcam- or iPad-recorded videos. Currently used in 1000s of K12, university, and corporate settings, Flipgrid boosts community, social presence, and critical thinking skills in face-to-face, hybrid, and online classrooms. In this session we will 1) provide users with an overview of the pedagogical and design foundations behind the environment, 2) discuss contemporary integration opportunities within K12 and university classrooms, and 3) provide an overview of current Flipgrid research across diverse K12, university, and organizational settings. Ultimately, we hope to challenge teachers, instructional designers, and researchers to explore engaging new methods for sparking discussions and capturing reflections in the modern classroom.
